DESCRIPTION

#2005V - MASONRY WATER REPELLENT is a stable penetrating water repellent that was developed to treat a wide variety of mineral substrates.

THIS PRODUCT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR BELOW GRADE APPLICATION WHERE HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE CAN BE SIGNIFICANT.

PROPERTIES

#2005V - MASONRY WATER REPELLENT is vapor permeable to resist cracking, and blistering by allowing carbonation to continue after application. It can improve the adhesion of paints to mineral substrates when used as directed.

USE

#2005V - MASONRY WATER REPELLENT is used as a water repellent on architectural concrete, concrete bock, spilltface block, porous and denge brick, clay tile, exposed aggregate, sandstone, slates, and cement based stucco and concrete pavers. It can also be used to stop rising dampness through damp proof injection into cementicious walls. It provides excellent water repellence on these substrates to reduce cracking, spading, and freeze/thaw damage. It also prevents of chemical degradation, biological growth, efflorescence, and dirt pick-up. It provides excellent beading for improved aesthetics. It has low VOC emissions on curing and is EPA compliant.

CURING

The drying time of #2005

MASONRY WATER REPELLENT is 48hrs. After a period of 72hrs., it is completely cured and will realize maximum water repellence.

APPLICATION TIME

After mixing #2005V - MASONRY WATER REPELLENT, it must be used within the following 75hrs. as it is not a stable product.

Blending generally improve over time. For best results, it should be applied within 48 hrs. after mixing.

Water Vapor Transmission – After #2005 - MASONRY WATER REPELLENT has fully cured, it remains vapor permeable and does allow moisture to escape.

COVERAGE

The coverage rates for #2005V - MASONRY WATER REPELLENT will vary greatly depending upon the substrates and substrate porosity. Concrete pavers sustain the lowest averaging 1m2 per liter or 40sq.ft. per gallon. Architectural concrete block and clay tile covers an average 1.85m2 – 2m2 or 75-80sq.ft. per gallon. Spiltface block, stucco, porous brick and sandstone covers average between 3m2 – 3.8m2 per liter or 125-150sq.ft. per gallon. Exposed aggregate concrete and dense brick will cover average 8m2 – 8.5m2 per liter or 325-350sq.ft. per gallon. Slates will cover 11m2 per liter or 450sq.ft. per gallon.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

at least 48hrs. Apply material only on clear days when relative humidity is less than 85% and temperature and forecast are to remain above 4oC. Do not apply when precipitation is imminent or forecast within the following 24hrs.

Protection – No special protection is required for #2005V – MASONRY WATER REPELLENT. It is necessary that the treated area shall be protected from rain and not be disturbed from weather, solvents, or handled until it is a cured form.

Surface Preparation – Surface preparation depends upon substrate placement; type ands strength, curing and finishing processes, age, condition, previous contamination, and the presence of previous coatings. Surface should be free from dust, dirt, oils, grease, curing compounds, other coatings, efflorescence, and laitance before applying #2005V – MASONRY WATER REPELLENT.

Clean Up – Cleaning methods are compatible with the application of #2005V – MASONRY WATER REPELLENT as follows: (Mechanical) - abrasive blasting, sand, baking soda, vacuum. (Chemical) - Acid etching, stripping, solvent degreasing, caustic soda scrubbing, alkaline soda scrubbing, high pressure washing. (Heat) - propane and acetylene torching. If acidic or caustic cleaning agents are used, neutralize the surface and completely wash to remove any residues. Before using any surface preparation method, a test application should be performed with customer’s approval to ensure that their needs are met.

New concrete should be allowed to cure for a minimum of 28 days before

applying #2005 - MASONRY WATER REPELLENT, in addition, any repair work should be performed at least 3 days prior to #2005 - MASONRY WATER REPELLENT is applied.
